Sfouf is an arab dessert. It looks like cake, and is baked just like a cake. But due to its different ingredients it tastes a little bit different.
Serves: a big tray
Total cooking time: 35 min.
Preparation time: 10 min.
Ingredients:
- 3 cups semolina flour
- 1 cup white flour
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup milk (preferably full fat)
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 tbsp baking powder
- 1 1/2 tbsp curcuma
- pinch of salt
Recipe:
- Place all dry ingredients in a bowl, and mix them well.
- Start adding the oil first, while whisking.
- Then add the milk and water slowly while whisking also.
- After you've added all the ingredients keep whisking for at least 5 minutes to assure all the ingredients are well dissolved.
- Paint the baking tray with some butter to assure that the cake will not stick to it.
- Pour the batter in the baking tray (make sure it is not full).
- you can decorate it with some nuts on its top.
- Bake at 180 °C for around 25 min and test with a toothpick if done.
- When done, let it get some redness from above.
